The second vice president of Jubbaland, Abdulkadir Haji Mohamud, has suspended Jubbaland’s attorney general, Mohamed Sheikh Osman, following accusations of corruption and abuse of power.
In a decree issued on Saturday, Mr. Mohamud declared the suspension of all responsibilities of the regional attorney general but did not provide further details.
The second vice president’s decision comes in the wake of the attorney general’s announcement on his Facebook page, where he declared resigning without providing a specific reason.
In his Facebook post, he stated, “Today, I have resigned from my position. I want to thank President Ahmed Mohamed Islam, who appointed me to this position and collaborated with me during my tenure.”
However, Jubaland is anticipated to hold elections for regional leadership in the coming months.
